A great way to save money on your power bills is to install light emitting diodes or LED lights in your home.

LED Lights require far less electricity to function and also produce a lot less heat, meaning you’ll not only be saving money on your electricity bill, you also won’t have to replace your LED light bulbs nearly as often as conventional bulbs.

According to eartheasy.com, an incandescent light bulb will last roughly 1,200 hours on average, while an LED bulb can have a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours. This means that a household which is using 25 LED light bulbs cross 50,000 hours will save close to $7,000 compared to if they were using regular incandescent bulbs!  That equates to a saving of more than $1,000 a year, just from switching over to LED light bulbs!

Studies have also demonstrated that standard incandescent light bulbs convert around only one-fifth of the energy they consume into light, while LED bulbs utilise as much as 80% of that energy for light production. This difference illustrates perfectly why a 10 watt LED lamp can replace a 60 watt incandescent lamp and why LED light bulbs stay far cooler to the touch while in operation compared with incandescent lamp.

It is also worth considering that your home will remain a little cooler during those impossibly hot summer afternoons. With the ambient temperature in your home slightly reduced, you can set your air conditioning unit to a lower setting, reducing your energy costs even further!
